still january

It's STILL January.

It's still freezing.

We're still in lockdown.

This week....

Same as every other week in lockdown really. There's not that much we're allowed to do.

I've literally only left the house 5 times all week. Once to go to the co-op, once to go to M&S and 3 times to go for a walk. I've done yoga via Zoom 3 times. We've watched all kinds of shite on Netflix. And I filed my tax return. 

Highlight this week was my friend, who's my work buddy at the gym when it's actually open, inviting me on a 'co-worker's team building session' today. That's a socially distanced walk in the local park to you. It was so nice to chat to someone who doesn't live under the same roof.

Does anyone fancy running away to Australia? They seem to be handling the whole situ better than most. Plus it's summer there. 

day out

I went out today. In my car. I chatted to actual real life people and everything. I even had a Costa hot chocolate!

It was only a trip to the opticians. But it was the best day out I've had this year. 

And the good news is I'll get another in a couple of weeks when I have to go back to collect my new spex. Happy days.

january blues

This bloody lockdown seems to be going on forever. The weather is shit. It has rained for two days solid. Tesco cancelled my delivery on Monday. After I'd spent over an hour ordering the damned thing. And January is 10 times longer than normal.

But my Mum and Dad had the vaccine today. At the same time as Joe Biden was being sworn in as president.

So it's not all doom and gloom.

lockdown weekends

Lockdown weekends are quiet affairs. They involve staying in or going for a walk. Much like every other day to be honest.

And with no end in sight.

This one is apparently gonna go on till at least March they reckon. So... I'm trying to make the most of it...

Drawing lots of pics just for fun. It's what I enjoy best. Apart from holidays. And shopping. And going out. Obvs...

procreate

I don't use procreate on my iPad as much as I thought I would.

I can't really get my head round it. I'm in an Illustrator rut. Procreate seems like hard work in comparison. 

But then see all this fabulous stuff that people create on it and I feel like I should use it more. 

So I get the iPad back out. And I just stare at it cos I don't know where to start.

Then Ingela P Arrhenius posted on insta this week saying that it stressed her out too until she realised that just because there's so much you CAN do doesn't mean you have to do EVERYTHING. You just have to make it work for YOU!

We had a day off from the lockdown today.

We had a snow day instead.

It's basically the same. But with snow.

2021 review

I've had the free 7 day trial of 2021 this week.

I'm not keen. I've decided not to keep it. Gonna go straight to 2022 instead.

1 star. Would not recommend.

I can't stand it. I've had enough. It's not even funny any more. I don't want to play.

And if there's a craze for putting rainbows in windows I'm not joining in. I'm over it. Alright.

slow down

I'm taking it S-L-O-W this week.

I know I usually hate January but it's not so bad so far this year...the Youngest's course is online only until at least the 18th (by this I mean one Zoom meeting a week plus an indeterminable amount of work to do at home, which he says he does but I have no way of knowing if this is indeed the case.) ...so no alarm clock for me. Woohoo!

end of festivity

I took the Christmas tree down yesterday. We took the Eldest back to Newcastle today. I'm now finishing off the last of the chocolate Baileys. 

So I guess the festive season is officially over.

not a 365 day challenge

I've got all these sketchbooks that I draw random shiz in. Sometimes I use bits on insta. Sometimes they just sit in the sketchbook and never see the light of day.

So for 2021 I'm gonna do a 365 project and post one every day. Coloured in and everything.

As if I'd set myself up for a full year thing. I'd be bored after a week.

But I'll do a few. Till I get inspired to do something more useful.
